The "North Wind" of Whitby
The vessel shown on this site is the 'North Wind' of Whitby (ON:52486).

Captain Thomas Davies of Llanarth, Cardiganshire, was 1st mate of this 783 ton three masted barque. He was awarded a silver medal by the Italian Government in 1875 for saving the Italian barque "Enrico Merello" in the Atlantic which had lost its Captain and six of the crew during a hurricane. He settled in Dinas Cross, Pembrokeshire, the village of Captain Thomas James of Glanteg and Captain Thomas Peregrin of Smithfield who were some of the masters of the vessel.
